Monday, May 23rd is Fifth Grade’s Picnic: Students should wear class T-shirts, shorts, and tennis shoes. Pease apply sunscreen at home. Students may also bring in a water bottle, towel to sit on, and their yearbook to be signed. A pizza lunch will now be served, so students do not need to bring a sack lunch.
Tuesday, May 24th is The 5th Grade Read In and Game Day: Literaure and reading will be celebrated all day. Students may bring in pillows, blankets, stuffed animals, snacks, and soft drinks. This is a lot of fun, so please ensure your child comes to school with everything he/she will need for a fun time reading. For the second half of the day students will participate in Game Day. Students are encouraged to bring in cards or board games to play with their friends. Students are responsible for any items brought into school for this activity. Dismissal is at 1:30PM.
Wednesday, May 25th is the LAST DAY OF SCHOOL, and THE CELEBRATION FOR 5th GRADE STUDENTS. Students should arrive at school with the item they are bringing for the brunch. Remember, containers and serving utensils need to be disposable. The student brunch will be from 9-10AM. Parents should arrive and go directly to the covered play area at 10:15AM. Please take traffic and parking into consideration as you plan your arrival time. If the parking lot is full, parents are asked to park on Village Drive rather than Murdock Road. (Pass Murdock on the left and it is the next road on the right). Two guests per student are invited. No more guests are permitted due to space restrictions. Students and guests should wear dress clothes. There will be sign in sheets on the covered play area, so parents do not need to go to the front office. Parents will then be escorted to classroom to view the 5th Grade DVD. The last activity of the day will be the FIFTH GRADE FINAL WALK THROUGH THE BUILDING. During this time the students and parents will take a parting walk through the Murdock building, while all the younger classes and teachers line the hallways to say good-bye and good luck to our departing fifth graders. This is the fifth graders’ last walk through Murdock as students before they depart to middle school. After the final walk, students leave with their parents. This should be about 11:30AM. Please note that the final walk should continue to move without stopping in order for all fifth graders and parents to be off campus prior to the buses’ early arrival.
Thank you for your help and encouragement, not only during the last week, but throughout the year. Have a great summer.
