Weeks 18 and 19
2008 ended with a bang and 2009 is off to a great start. Both involved a flurry of activity between our holiday party, book buddy reading celebration, and games the last week of December and our Snow Day and Pajama Day to kick off the new year.
Thank you to all parents for returning the conference forms so quickly. I am looking forward to meeting with each of you. Report cards for the 2nd nine weeks will be distributed at conferences. Our koalas have grown so much during the first half of the year! Each conference is only allotted twenty minutes. If there are specific topics or questions that you want me to address during our time together please email me or send a note so that I can use our time wisely.
Looking Ahead...
This week we will continue our centers on Winter Weather. We are going to be doing a special writing activity with mittens on Thursday. Please send a pair mittens with your child on that day. The mittens will be returned home the same day.
In math, we are working on number words and have started working in our math journals. I am so proud of the quality of work the koalas are doing in their journals. We are going to be focusing on handwriting this nine weeks especially starting our letters at the top.
Don't forget that Monday, January 19th, is a school holiday. We will be celebrating MLK Day and the 100th day of school next week.
One last request, our treasure box is beginning to get low even though we have raised our prices. We would love any small trinkets that you may want to donate. The treasure box is a big motivator for our koalas.
