School Supplies for the 2009-10 School Year

              

                   

Please Bring to Meet & Greet

 

Here's what ALL 2nd Graders need:          

1 red, plastic, three-pronged folder (Spanish)

1 plastic folder (any color, but red) two pockets

12 sharpened pencils

2 red ball point pens

1 large, rectangular box of tissues

1 container of Lysol (or any brand) cleaning wipes

 

Best Buddies will need these also:      

1 inch (any color) binder w/plastic see-thru sleeve on cover 

***Wal-Mart has them in a variety of colors; Avery Durable EZ-Turn Ring Binder 

1 pack of insertable tab dividers (5 tabs only)

1 pair of small scissors

2 packs of wide rule loose leaf paper (one pack should be left at home)

2 black or blue dry erase markers and a dry eraser

48 pack of crayons (twistable or regular)

1 box of pink cap erasers

colored pencils

pencil box

WHY ARE WE ON OUR BACKS??????

 

The reason we are on our backs is because we were studying about Michelangelo, the Italian artist, who was comissioned by the Pope 500 year ago to paint the Sistine Chapel in Rome. It took him two years, and he did it all by himself, and on his back. Thank you, Mrs. Harrison for teaching us about Michelangelo. You're an awesome Great Artist Mom!!!!

FIRST IN MATH

FIRST IN MATH COMES TO MURDOCK!!!

First in Math is a WONDERFUL new program that

MURDOCK STUDENTS (grades 2-5)will be piloting for the remainder of the YEAR.

The program is usually 7 dollars per student but we are getting to pilot it for FREE until 7/31/09.

This program is available for home and school use.

Each child has a personal ID# and password.

Children proceed at their own pace-mastering facts and increasing problem solving, critical thinking and pattern recognition skills-as they advance through the levels of the program. 

The following instructions will help you get started:

 

QUICK START

 

1. Go to www.firstinmath.com

 

2. Type in user ID and password

 

3. Click Go and GO on Progress page

 

4. You are now on your player home page-

 

Click a Skill Set game, GYM, or Bonus

RELAY FOR LIFE

Relay for Life Picnic/Petka Pavilion Dedication Coming Soon!

  Have you seen the beautiful pavilion on the playground? Did you know that many of your teachers are participating in Relay for Life? On April 17th, Murdock will get together for a picnic, and to dedicate that pavilion to Mrs. Karen Petka.

You can bring your own food, or order a Chick-fil-a meal.  Baked goods and glow sticks will be available for purchase.

There will be music, luminary bags and much, much more. Download the flyer below.  Hope to see you all there!!!
