Parents,

Beginning October 26th and running thru November 13th we will be holding our annual United Way campaign here at Murdock.  Keeping in spirit with "small voices can make a big difference" we will be encouraging students to gather any small amount of change they can to help "change" someone's life here in our community.  Beginning the morning of October 26th a container will be placed near the entrance of the school where students or parents can deposit any change they would like to donate.  The goal is to fill the entire container illustrating to students that if everyone in a community pitches in a small amount it can add up to a huge amount of "change"!  All proceeds collected will go directly to flood victims in Cobb County.

Red Ribbon Week

Our theme statement for Red Ribbon Week is "I have better things to do than drugs".  There will be a different theme each day during the week of October 26-30.  Please dress up to support Red Ribbon Week!

Monday: Hats off to a drug free lifestyle

Tuesday: Sock it to drugs (Wear crazy or mismatched socks)

Wednesday: Wear red day

Thursday: Turn your back on drugs (Wear your shirt backwards)

Friday: Team up against drugs (Wear a team shirt or jersey)

"Cow" loween at Chick-Fil-A!

Murdock wll hold its very first "Cow" loween Spirit Night this Thrusday, October 22nd!  Students are encouraged to wear their spookiest costume (please no excessivly violent costumes or toy weapons), and to be ready to have lots of fun playing games such as plinko and the mighty cow toss (no live cows will be used for this event!)  The spirited evening will last from 5:00pm to 8:00pm and will take place @ the East Lake Chic-fil-a.  We look forward to seeing you!

Get the Scoop on Dodgen Night!

Middle School

 will be hosting an evening event for rising 6th grade students and their parents.  It is called Get the Scoop on Dodgen Night.   This event will replace the daytime field trips held in the past.  It helps to preserves instructional time.  The date scheduled is Tuesday, February 23, 2010 beginning with General PTSA meeting at 6:30 PM.  Further information will be provided to you as we get closer to the date.  Dodgen looks forward to welcoming the fifth graders and their parents as they begin to join the Dodgen Family.

Top Secret Info Coming home!

Students had an opportunity to experience their first Boosterthon event today.  They will be coming home with a Top Secret packet that has infromation about the event.  To get started they will need to visit www.funrun.com and enter their top seceret code.  Have fun!  Also, 10% of what is raised will go directly to our classroom for instructional resources!
