Civil War: Homefront and Battlefield

Hear stories of slavery, see how a musket is fired, experience Lincoln's Gettysburg Address, and warm yourself on a fire as you smell biscuits baking...

On Saturday, October 3 visit Historic Westville to learn about life during the Civil War from a slave, Union and Confederate soldiers, and Abe and Mary Lincoln.  Additionally, residents of this small southern town portray many aspects of life on the homefront during the Civil War.  This family event is a great opportunity to gain understanding of the Civil War from many perspectives. 

Historic Westville is a mid-nineteenth century open air musuem and living history village with more than 30 historic structures.  It is in Lumpkin, Georgia, approximately 30 miles from Columbus.  Admission is $10 and includes all activities.

Lets start reading!!!!!  Please be sure to complete a book talk map with the number of pages that were in the book to get credit for the pages you have read!!!!  This is the only way I can keep track of your page count.  If your reading and not logging you will not qualify for the end of the year award.  Our goal for a class is to read over 50,000 pages this year!

Cereal Box Book Report

I have attached a power point for you to review if you need any guidence with the different ingredients of your book......Remember the CONFIICT AND ROSOLUTION ARE TIED INTO THE PLOT IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR INFO.  Your book has to relate somehow to the Civil War and follow the guidelines provided to you.  The report is due Friday October 16th.

Picture Retakes

 Picture retake day is scheduled for Oct. 15th.  If you are planning on having retakes done you must send the original photographs in to be returned.

Homework on the blog

Hello Everyone!

I wanted to infrom you that I will no longer be posting DAILY homework on the blog.  I will still post special projects.  I have been finding that the blog is not posting the assignments until the day after I am creating the post, and there have been several days that I have been unable . We will continue to update agendas in class daily.  If you ever have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact me.
