Media Center Lessons Feb 25 - March 7

Kindergarten and 1st Graders learn how ABC order can help them find books in the library.  They also learn how to return books to the shelves correctly by helping straighten the books after a "tornado" has turned books upside down and backwards!  During the week of March 3-7, they'll celebrate Dr. Seuss' birthday all week long with stories and activities!

2nd Graders focus on the Thesaurus and finding just the right word.

3rd - 5th Graders review the Almanac and meet "The Almanac Challenge" to practice using this unique reference book.

Big News for 2nd Graders!

For the first time in Murdock history, 2nd Graders can now check out two books at a time, and they love it!  Now they're reading twice as much.  And, of course, they're returning both books on time!  Keep on reading, 2nd grade!

Media Center Lessons February 11-22

K-4th Grades will kick off our participation in the 2008 Georgia Picture Book Awards!  The book awards are sponsored by the University of Georgia Department of Children's Literature.  This is Murdock's 4th year of participation!  Classes all over the state will read at least ten of the twenty nominated books to be eligible to vote in April.  Voting Day is a big day in the Media Center.   Our votes are tallied up and emailed to UGA where they're added to all the other votes.  Our students LOVE having a vote in Georgia's best book of the year!

5th Grade will explore Destiny for special award-winning books like the Newbery, Caldecott, and the Coretta Scott King Award.
