Media Center Lessons for 9/17 - 9/28

7up_characters_and_baloon_dancing_21st - 5th grades focus on Media Center Manners and Manners All Around the School!  We're learning important life skills as they relate to expected behaviors in the Media Center, lunchroom, at performances and in the hallways.  What are good manners?  What does the word "etiquette" mean?  How do good manners impact our friends, our school, our ability to learn?

1st Graders hear the story about the Big Black Bear who doesn't say please or thank you.

2nd and 3rd Graders learn about the 3 C's of Good Manners:  Caring, Courtesy, and Careful

4th and 5th Graders identify Courteous or Not Courteous behaviors, along with solving the mystery of The Missing Friends.

Kindergarten continues to learn their media center routine including how to use a space saver, how to find a book, how to check out a book AND how to use the correct media center manners.

Media Center Lessons for 9/4 - 9/14

Shelves                   Kindergarten students are learning all about the library with the help of Mr. Wiggle, a bookworm.  *Media center manners *How to use a space saver *How to check out a book.  It's all new to them and they're very excited!  Our hope is to make every visit to the media center a wonderful experience!

1st - 3rd Graders are reviewing proper care of library books with a special guest - Zee Boook Doctor!  It's a fun, interactive lesson that teaches the importance of caring for all books, especially those borrowed from a library.

4th and 5th Graders are learning how to use our online catalog (Destiny) to find the books they want.  They'll become experts with visual searches, power searches, and keyword searches.  Of course, using Destiny is just the first step.  They must then know how to locate the books on the shelves.  We'll be working on these skills throughout the year with continued lessons, opportunities to practice, games and team challenges.
