I hope everyone enjoyed the "Snow Week".
This nine weeks we will be working on:
Math:Fractions/Decimals, adding and subtracting like fractions, problem solving, measurement to the nearest 1/2, 1/4 inch and millimeter, area, perimeter, and counting back change using the fewest coins.
Reading:Informational text, recognizing text/graphic features to gain meaning (photos, captions,titles,etc.), identifies the basic elements of informational text (index, table of contents, glossary,etc.).
Writing:Expository, use graphic organizers, writing facts and details using a variety of resources, write a report.
Social Studies:Discuss traits of F.D.R., Eleanor Roosevelt, and Mary Bethune,continue with the four types of productive resources, and identify major U.S. rivers.
Science:Magnets, Habitats of Georgia, Plants and animals in the different GA regions.
Health:Disease prevention
Your child brings home a Weekly Book with a worksheet to complete. These will focus on informational text.
Encourage your child to practice all math skills using the First in Math and IXL programs. These are a fun and enriching ways to work on all skills.
