Curriculum Briefings:
Math – We are wrapping up fractions and moving into measurement. The smaller increments on a ruler will be covered. Kids have trouble with this. They will be measuring
a lot of things around the house. Be prepared. Please talk to your kids about this. ALSO – KEEP WORKING ON MULTIPLICATION FACTS!!!
Reading Workshop – We continue to work on social issues. Your children have been compassionate and empathetic when dealing with the sensitive issues that have come up.
They are a great group of kids!
Writing workshop – We are publishing our personal narratives and will begin to work on story narratives next.
Grammar – We are going to be working on adjectives. There are a few in class who did not do well with nouns and verbs. We MUST move on. Please continue to work at home
on this so that they will understand this.
Cursive – I am so proud of all of the children with their cursive! Very beautiful handwriting is emerging. Keep practicing beyond the daily assignments.
Spelling – Make sure your child gets onto spelling city and practices their sort sometime during the week.
Social Studies – Our next Biography will be Eleanor Roosevelt.
Science – We are working on a technology presentation of a Georgia Region.
We are continuing to test out the class dojo behavior system. I have been giving out many positives to offset the negatives. I will not put a minus on the weekly sheet
unless I feel that it was above and beyond the “normal” amout that week. Thank you for your patience as I work through the system issues.
Have a great weekend! I hope the groundhog does not see his shadow!
