THANKSGIVING BREAK NEXT WEEK! HAVE A WONDERFUL AND SAFE HOLIDAY!
Dear Lightning Bugs,
We have had a busy week. I have been in and out of class for training from the Columbia University Teacher’s College,
Reading and Writing Project. I am very thankful that our administration has invested in this incredible training. Your
children will certainly be enriched in reading workshop this year! We are going to ROCK the common core standards in
reading.
No school next week. Have a safe holiday. Enjoy and rest up. I am asking that the children still commit to reading every day.
They are bringing home their book bags with a selection of both fiction and non-fiction. It is VERY important that they have
the opportunity to read for a solid 45-60 mins per day.
When we come back from break: November 26-30…….
Our class will be on MBC to lead the pledge. The schedule is below. Please make sure that your child is in school and on-time.
Monday: Camden, Hannah, Madelyn, and Sara Grace

(Computer Lab at 10:00)
Wednesday: Joseph Ashlinn, Kennedi, Meagan
Thursday: Ebi, Rylie, Matthew, Donovan

Curriculum Briefings:
In Math, we are still working on fractions. Even though we are on fractions, please KEEP practicing those multiplication facts.
In Reading, we have just finished our non-fiction unit. After the break we are going to begin a unit on characters using the children’s novel
Winn Dixie.
In Writing, we are still working on our reports. We will finish gathering our information in computer lab on Tuesday and then begin organizing our writing.
In Social Studies, we will begin the study of Frederick Douglass.
In Science we are going to begin our study of organisms and habitats.
Have a great week!
