Hello Lightning Bugs!
Coming up this week:
We are doing some mid-year checkpoint testing on the i-respond this week. Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. No stress, just do your best!
Tuesday - media center - please return overdue books! Also Science Lab in the afternoon!
Wednesday - coumputer lab time with Mr. Tener. Don't forget to do the Wednesday night fluency homework each week!
We have two birthdays this week, two next week and two the following weeks. Busy month!
Curriculum Briefings:
Math - Continue to work on geometry (chapter 16). There is a lot of memorization of shapes and definitions. Make sure your child practices and studies. Also - keep working on multiplication facts to 10 x 10. Know them backward and forward!
ELA - sort 10 this week.
Some students are still working on their final drafts of their fiction narrative. Next we will be doing a book report and a book review.
Each student must be in the process of reading a fiction chapter book to use for the book report. Outline and assignment will come next week. In the mean time, I put a link to "Spaghetti Book Club" on the blog. These are book reviews that were written by other children.
Science - We have several lab sessions this quarter that focus on soils and Earth Science.
Social Studies - We have finished Paul Revere and Frederick Douglass. Last biography this quarter is Susan B. Anthony. We will spend the next several weeks learning about her contribution to women's rights in America.
