Welcome to 5th grade!

 

Davis and Armour's supply list for the 2009-2010 school year:

 

1 two inch zippered binder with a three ring pencil pouch made for the binder (no pencil boxes or separate pouches)

8 tabbed dividers with pockets for the binder

1 set of colored pencils

2 red or blue ballpoint pens

1 three subject spiral notebook

1 single subject spiral notebook

1 pack of notebook paper

2 boxes of tissues

1 container of disinfecting surface wipes (such as Lysol or Clorox) (Boys only)

1 hand sanitizer (Girls only)

1 Wordly Wise 3000 Book 5

1 white 1 inch three ring binder for Spanish

1 recorder for music

1 pocket folder for music

1 old shirt to use as a smock for art

Outgoing 5th graders

What a memorable year it has been!  We want to thank you for bringing a smile to our faces each and every day.  It has truly been a privilege working with each and every one of you this school year.  We want to wish you continued success as you head onto middle school.  Have a wonderful summer, we will miss you!:)

FIRST IN MATH

FIRST IN MATH COMES TO MURDOCK!!!
First in Math is a WONDERFUL new program that
MURDOCK STUDENTS (grades 2-5)will be piloting for the remainder of the YEAR.
The program is usually 7 dollars per student but we are getting to pilot it for FREE until 7/31/09.
This program is available for home and school use.
Each child has a personal ID# and password.
Children proceed at their own pace-mastering facts and increasing problem solving, critical thinking and pattern recognition skills-as they advance through the levels of the program. 
The following instructions will help you get started:
QUICK START
2. Type in user ID and password
3. Click Go and GO on Progress page
4. You are now on your player home page-Click a Skill Set game, GYM, or Bonus Game to begin

Publix & General mills are teaming up to help MURDOCK earn money!
It easier than ever to earn Bonus Box Tops!

From 7/14/08 to 9/30/08 shop Publix for specially marked Box Top items. These items are identified with a green and purple sticker on the front of the box.

Follow these easy steps to collect & redeem your certificates for Bonus Box Tops:
• When you get home open the certificate to reveal a Bonus Box Top code.
• Go to
www.publixboxtops.com to key Box Top codes and credit Murdock with 30, 50, or 100 Bonus Box Tops.
• Each family can earn up to 100 Bonus Box Tops, once you have keyed 12 codes, please send any extra certificates to school and we will submit them for another family!

The website is awesome, it will tell you how many more bonus codes are needed to reach the next level.
With 6 Bonus Codes ~ 30 Bonus Box Tops are earned
With 8 Bonus Codes ~ 50 Bonus Box Tops are earned
With 12 Bonus Codes ~ 100 Bonus Box Tops are earned

You may find these stickers on General Mills cereal, Chex Mix, Nature Valley Granola Bars or any number of General Mills products!

Study Stack---GREAT FOR PRACTICING WW!:)

We have discovered a wonderful website for creating flashcards! www.studystack.com It is pretty simple to use, here are some basic instructions to get you started.....

  1. Go to www.studystack.com
  2. scroll to the bottom of the page to "create stack"
  3. It will then ask you to registar- create a user name, password, email and agree to the conditions
  4. After logging click on "create stack"
  5. Click on Add or Rename Flaps
  6. Click on Edit next to flap 1
  7. Rename it "Word" press save
  8. Click on Edit next to flap 2
  9. Rename it "Definition" press save
  10. Click on Done
  11. Click on Add or Edit Cards
  12. Click on Add Cards
  13. Under the "Word" column add your words
  14. Under the "Definition" Column add your definitions
  15. If you have more words than space press save and click on add cards
  16. when you are finished click "done"
  17. You can then print your cards or play games with them!

Have fun! We made cards for Wordly Wise Lesson 10. The words print on odd pages and the defintions on even. You can play around with your printer to print front and back!
