Dolphin Days

Welcome Dolphins of 2011-2012!

I hope you are having a restful summer! I am already excited to begin the new school year! 

If you have not purchased school supplies yet, please scratch the following items from your list because we still have plenty to begin the year:
  

tissue boxes                                                                                                             1 3x3 cube of sticky notes
red pens
pencils
notebook paper

 
(Keep in mind, that we may need these items later in the year.)

The following items are supplies that are needed: 

1 smock for Art

1 recorder for Music

3 composition notebooks

2 jumbo glue sticks

2 blue or black dry-erase markers and a sock or cloth to use as an eraser

2 blue and 2 green pens

1 one-inch binder 

1 two- inch binder

3 folders

* 2 thin yellow high-lighters (optional- we have a class set of used highlighters)

* 1 pair Fisker Student Pointed Scissors (optional- we have used scissors)

Rain Barrel Winner

Congratulations to Andrew, the winner of the class rain barrel!

 

Be sure to look in the East Cobber magazine in the June issue to see a class picture of the dolphins with the rain barrel.

 

We will have our end of the year celebration with pizza and sundaes at 12:00 p.m.

 

Thank you to all the families who sent in food and supplies for the VIP Tea and tomorrow's party.

 

 

Last Week Activities

Monday is Game Day! Games are allowed as long as they are not electronic.

 

Tuesday is Movie Day! Feel free to send a G rated movie in on Monday so that the dolphins can vote on the most on one to be seen. School is dismissed at 1:30.

 

Wednesday is the last day of school!! We will have a Spelling Bee, cheer on the fifth graders for the traditional walk and then celebrate with pizza and sundaes! School is dismissed at 1:30.

 

If you are interested in having your family take home the rain barrel, be sure to send in a note Monday morning so that your child can be a part of the raffle drawing.

VIP Tea Reminder

Tomorrow is our VIP tea celebration! Please join us if you can from 11:30-12:00. Feel free to stay for lunch if your schedule allows. We are excited to share our persuasive writings with you and the visuals with each other!

Field Day

Please help your child remember to wear his/her class t-shirt on Friday. Also, in an effort to reduce, reuse and recycle, please send your child with a reusable water bottle.

Field Day Reminder

Friday is field day for the dolphins. Please send an extra set of clothes, just in case.... 

3rd Grade's field day activities begin at 8:30. 

 

The Dolphins are Winners!

See the email announcement that came this afternoon from the coordinator of the rain barrel contest.

"We were so thrilled to receive some fantastic entries in this year – we can tell you and your students put in a lot of hard work and we couldn’t be happier!  
Our 2011 Best Rain Barrel Award goes to Ms. Barnwell’s class at Addison Elementary. Her students painted different plants – their stages of life and needs for survival – and how plants consumed water with ways to conserve.
Our Junior Water Warriors Award goes to Ms. Dang’s class at Murdock Elementary. To teach others about conservation efforts the class came up with its own campaign “Murdock Makes a Change.” They put up posters throughout the school, performed skits and songs for the morning announcements and even wrote persuasive papers urging citizens to save water – which were recently published in the Marietta Daily Journal!   
All of the participating students should be proud – and we want them to know that – so we’ll be sending an award to each classroom before school gets out for the summer. And for any students who are interested, we now have a Decorate Your Own Rain Barrel coloring sheet on our website – we’ll post selected barrels on our Facebook page!
