Rain Barrel Contest

Our class has entered a water conservation contest.  One of our goals is to learn about conserving water. The other goal is to decorate a rain barrel.  We have two opportunities to win.  We will be competing with other schools to see how well we can show our learning about water conservation and how well we decorate a rain barrel.  You can help us start saving water now!

Author's Celebration

Mark your calendars! The hardbound copies of our class book have come in and we are eager to celebrate with you. During our Author's celebration, the children will receive the copies of the books they ordered or sit with friends and families to enjoy each others contributions to the book! An extra special thank you goes to Mrs. Hembree and Mrs. Andruszko for their efforts to polish our pages. Thank you!!

What time: 11:30 -12:00 Feel free to join your child for lunch in the cafeteria afterwards.

Information

A letter explaining our "new" class placement process will be going home on Monday, the 21st. On Friday, the 25th, a Student Profile Checklist will also be going home. If you choose to complete this checklist, it must be returned by Friday, April 1st. Checklists will not be excepted about April 1st.

 

On this week's E-folder there is not a new form due to copier issues. You will see your child's reading fluency rate and DRA level. The wpm stands for words per minute. The grade level goal by the end of the year is level P at 120 words per minute. Please keep in mind where your child started and notice their growth. 

 

You will also see their level according to the SRI (Scholastic Reading Inventory) test. The grade level range is 500-800. 

It has been exciting to see how much the children have grown!

 

 

Field Trip

Reminder: Wear class t-shirt Monday. ALP students should wear the class t-shirt on Tuesday.

This week's highlights:The class did well with finding perimeter and area on this week's test. A big shout out goes to the following students for using the strategy of writing the formula for area or perimeter to help with solving the word problems:

Shai, Megan, Ryan, Ivan, Thomas, Dot, Carmen, Andrew and Noah!

 

The Book Fair opens tonight! We will preview as a class on Tuesday at 10:00. You may send your child with money to make purchases on any day. Book Fair Family Night is Tuesday. Don't forget that our third graders will be doing a music performance this Thursday evening.
