Meow - gobble, Y'all!
It's almost unbelievable that Thanksgiving is just around the corner!! Gracious, where has the time gone? Please don't forget our upcoming Thanksgiving Program and Dessert Feast next Wednesday, November 16th, from 12:30-1:00. Please join us for a "purrrrfectly" wonderful way of ushering in our Thanksgiving holiday!!! Please remember to bring a dessert to share. Just drop your dessert off in our classroom, and then meet us in the Music Room in the Fine Arts Wing by 12:30. We will entertain you with "purrrrfectly" precious Thanksgiving songs that will get you in the holiday spirit for sure! As soon as we finish singing, we will return to our classroom and enjoy our desserts together as a Classy Cat Family! Yum! Yum!!!
Guided Reading is off to a "purrrrfectly" wonderful beginning!!! We are meeting twice a week with each group and learning different strategies (tips/tricks) to help us become better readers. Some of our groups are working on being an "eagle eye." That means we are practicing using pictures to help us figure our unfamiliar words. They are so excited when they come to a word they don't know, and then realize they do know the word because they can use their picture clues!!!! It's so much fun to learn to read together!
In Writer's Workshop, we are learning about writing stories with a beginning, middle and end. This week, we read the story Arthur's Thanksgiving, and we are making a special 'stage" for our writing. These will come home on Friday of this week. Be sure to ask your favorite Classy Cat to tell you about the beginning, middle and ending of the story. Next week, we will begin a new type of narrative writing. We will be learning the difference between an "event" and a "feeling." Then, we will learn how to write stories about events in our lives with a beginning, middle and end. We will be working on this type of skill for the next few weeks.
In math, we are working on comparing numbers 1-10 through various center rotations. Next week, we will be learning how to create/interpret graphs! We are such smart Classy Cats!!! Meow!
Thank you so much to everyone who has helped us this year with cutting & copying, being mystery readers, helping with our special centers for Johnny Appleseed Day and Halloween, and for being our new literacy center helpers. Oh, my gracious! We could never have made it this far without y'all! Three meows for y'all!! Oh! We also want to thank Mrs. Wade, Mrs. Geller, Mrs. Castro and Mrs. Rogers for helping us with our Native American costumes for our program! Thank you sooooooooooo much, ladies!!!! Y'all are Top Cats for life!!!
