HAVE A SAFE SUMMER!!

Dear Parents,

Hopefully, all summer practice folders made it home. If the students bring them back to Speech in the fall with some signatures, then they automatically get to go to the prize box.

In the attached cover letter to the practice folders was a list of "safe" internet sites to have them practice speech skills rather than the homework sheets. Again, just sign a paper stating that they had done on-line speech homework and bring that back to Speech.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!

Dear Parents,

Thanks to all of you who have taken the time to do speech homework with your child. Both your child and I appreciate your support!!

The theme two weeks prior to winter break was everything you wanted to know and more for penguins, southern hemisphere, south pole, and Antarctica. The first two weeks in January will be focused on polar bears, northern hemisphere, north pole, and the Arctic. The last two weeks of the month will be focused on comparing/contrasting the animals, locations, continents, etc... and will include venn diagrams, tree maps, bubble maps, double bubble maps, and will culminate with written expression incorporating "Braidy" strategies.

I hope all of the students have a great time sharing what they have learned.

Happy talking,

Marilyn Charles

NOVEMBER NEWS

Dear Parents,

I am so pleased with the progress that the students have made since August!! Thanks for all of the continuous homework that you have done with your child. Please remember that homework can be the specific sheets that I send home, the Quia websites listed in August, or reading other school homework.

The following are some of the topics that will be covered this month:

1) Most students will have had an introduction to Braidy and will have had an opportunity to write many descriptive sentences for one specific character.

2) Depending on the grade level: certain native american tribes will be discussed

3) Food groups will be discussed and related to the various traditional foods served at Thanksgiving and which groups those items represent

4) Early settlers will be discussed and the vocabulary that related during their life time will be compared to the common vocabulary for our lifestyles (comparison/contrast)

THANKS FOR ALL OF YOUR SUPPORT, Marilyn Charles

ARTICULATION HOMEWORK

Practicing daily is crucial for facilitating progress!!

http://www.quia.com/pages/havemorefun.html

There are many types of games to choose for each of the sounds that your child is working on. Each sound can be worked on in all different positions of the words (beginning, middle, or end). PLEASE make sure that to practice the sounds with these on-line games by SAYING the words out loud and continue to monitor.
