It's great to be a Beach Buddy!

This week was busy and challenging!  The students have been working on place value and rounding numbers to the nearest 10, 100, and 1000.  Check out the post below for some online rounding practice!

In the Friday Folders, there is some important information for you to review.  Mrs. Meharg sent home a letter discussing classroom information.  There is also a letter explaining the problems with the phones yesterday.  I know many of you received some automated phonecalls about attendance.  It was NOT true! 

Please review the work that was sent home in the Friday Folders.  It will let you know how your child is progressing in math and language arts.

Next week, we are beginning to think about our reading.  We will be using metacognitive strategies (thinking about your thinking) to help our reading comprehension.

March 29 - April 2

Happy Monday and Happy Last Week Before Spring Break!  I know many of you have amazing plans next week.  I look forward to hearing about your adventures.  Feel free to send in or email me some pictures.  I think it would be neat to see and hear about your break. 

This week, we will be focusing on getting ready for the CRCT.  The test will be held April 14, 15, and 16.  That is the Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday right after we come back from Spring Break.  Please make sure your child has enough rest and breakfast for these important days.  I know the kids will do their best!  It's time to show off those smarts!!! :)

This is the last week to take online CRCT practice tests in order to go to Murphy's Disco Dance Party.  Students who complete 20 tests will be able to attend this coming Friday.  As your child completes a test, initial the blue card that was sent home in your child's homework folder.  If you need a new form, click here to print a one.  You or your child can also ask me for a new one.

Field Trip

We have a field trip scheduled on Tuesday, March 10.  We will be going to the Tellus Science Museum.  If your child signed up to bring a lunch, please make sure it is in a disposablebag.  Please do not send items that need refrigeration.  There is no guarantee that it can stay cool.  Please remind your child to be on his or her best behavior.  We look forward to this great trip!

Square One Art

Square One Art is coming home on Wednesday, October 22nd.  The packet includes directions for ordering various objects with your child's art.

Please note:  The deadline for turning in orders/money is OCTOBER 28th.  There are no exceptions for late forms.

Important Forms

I hope you had a great week!  I enjoyed seeing many of your last night at Open House. 

Today, I sent home some forms in your child's weekly folder.  There is a list of all the field trips and in-house school events.  The first major one is coming up in October.  The permission slip and collection envelope went home today.  Please send them back as soon as possible so we can confirm arrangements.

Also, there are many that need to send in the permission forms for Performing Arts.  More were sent home last night.  There are a few more that I am sending home on Monday.  There are several performances at school that need "performing arts" permission.  The first one is coming soon in September.
