How is the Homework Clinic different than regular homework time during ASP?
The homework clinic is going to be more of a help session rather than an independant session. There are older students to help and monitor. In addition, computer access is available which they never had in the past.
Do we need to sign up for the Homework Clinic? When will the Clinic start?
Homework clinic is now a regular part of ASP. It is the same time as the old homework time, rather "beefed up".
Can a student choose to do their homework after the allotted homework time rather than going to games and/or large group activity? ABSOLUTELY - In ASP there should always be a CHOICE for the children. ASP should be a fun enriching time.
If so, do they need to have permission from someone to do so? One of the instructors will stay behind to supervise anyone who is not done. If there are only one or two children, they may sit next to the check out desk to complete their work.
I've been meaning to ask this, but do the Kinders play with the older kids outside? In the past the entire group was outside together. We have a new schedule that has a more staggered approach to outside time. There is some time where they are together, but we will keep an eye on it and manage the behavior.
Are there any sports programs that are offered to the ASP kids that are located there at Murdock? The ASP staff is in the process of creating "clubs" for the kids that are free of charge (I think lacrosse was a YMCA event that had a fee). Some of the clubs will be sports oriented and some will be more like games and crafts. It is still in the works, look for the flyer to come home.
